What You Need to Know Before Playing Resident Evil 2 Remake

What You Need to Know Before Playing Resident Evil 2 Remake

As per Steam in various regions of the world, Resident Evil 2 remake will unlock in approximately 5 hours. Meaning that there is still some type to relive the hype. For those who do not know, Resident Evil 2 remake is a full blown of remake of the 1998 classic. The game is remade from scratch using an improved version of the engine that powered the highly revered Resident Evil 7 that was released last year.

With that out of the way, gamers across the world are gearing up to experience what many call the greatest, most definitive Resident Evil experience, and the game that solidified Resident Evil in the list of the best horror/survival games of all time.

With that aside, if you are thinking about playing the game, we are covering some of the basic tips that you should know before you jump into the shoes of Leon S. Kennedy or Claire Redfield and save Raccoon City once again.

Use the Ammo Carefully

When you first start the game, you will run into plenty of ammo, this would naturally mean that you would want to take out as many bad guys as possible, and missing out a few shots won’t matter much to you either. However, I would advise you to be careful as once you start progressing, the ammo would become a resource that is not plentiful.

To add a twist, Capcom has made sure that no two zombies are alike when it comes to their health. So, the best way to go about this s to make sure that you save more bullets than you fire.

Use the Map

Resident Evil 2 uses a careful mix of puzzles, and some of them are rather cleverly implemented and can result in you getting lost time and again. However, if you want to avoid that altogether, make sure that you use the map. The map in this remake is one of the finest iterations of a remade map, and it works really well.

Attracting the Tyrant

Throughout the first two halves of the game, you will run into Tyrant, or Mr. X as he is referred to. He is a giant mutant who cannot be stopped regardless of how many bullets you fire into his hulking body. You can just run away from him. However, one thing that many people forget about is that the Tyrant gets attracted to gunshots. So, the more bullets you fire, the higher the chances of attracting the Tyrant will be.

Never Underestimate Counter Weapons

This kind of links to the first point that I talked about in the game. Ammo is most certainly not as abundant as our trigger happy fingers would like. However, throughout the game, you would run into many counter weapons that you could use. Weapons like combat knives, as well as grenades and flash bangs would be available all over the police station. Never underestimate them because they can get you out of countless situations. Just keep them with you because you never know when you might need one.

Make Use of the Wooden Boards

The one thing that I had no idea about in the game were wooden boards. I honestly thought that they were nothing more than scrap. However, I was wrong and I regretted that. If you want to prevent zombies from entering through the broken windows, the best thing that you can do is use those wooden boards effectively. Using those boards is not that difficult either, and does get the job done with ease. You will find plenty of them, so do not waste them for your own sake.

Conclusion

Resident Evil 2’s remake is just a few hours away, with many gamers already playing in some countries while others are excitingly looking at their screens. If you happen to be among the gamers who are still waiting, you should definitely follow these tips and start counting down the hours until the game is finally available to play.

For those who do not know, the game is notorious for its random difficulty spikes, and while many should not have a problem with it, if this is your first time playing a Resident Evil game, you ought to bring your best.
