A New Crytek Game is On Its Way

It should not come as a surprise that gamers do not know about Crytek. However, if you are unaware, Crytek jumped the scene back in 2007, and in simpler words, change the landscape of gaming forever. How did they manage that? Well, they released Crysis; a first-person shooter game that many called the game from the future, and the name did fit it well considering how you did need a PC from the future to run Crysis.

Needless to say, the original Crysis solidified its place in the long list of games and ended up becoming one of the best, and most influential video games, as well as a first-person shooter. Crysis was a PC exclusive at launch and that was not surprising considering how even the recommended system requirements of the game were not enough to handle the game at best settings.

Soon after the release of Crysis, Crytek started working on Crysis 2, which was going to be more accessible, and they did; releasing Crysis 2 on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. Crytek went on to release three main games in the Crysis series along with spin-offs such as Warhead. Needless to say, they were enjoying a relative amount of success.

The studio did reach the brink of closure but was saved, and then they released Hunt: Showdown, an early access survival shooter. Well , for those interested, Crytek is actually working a new AAA game that has not been named so far, but it is being developed using the Spatial OS by Improbable; for those who do not know, the Spatial OS is multi-player focused platform that runs off Cloud.

Proper details about the project have not bene shared, but Crytek claims that they will be revealing more about the game soon. The game uses Crytek’s own engine called CryEngine, and will be built using the Spatial OS but more details are not available at the moment.

This announcement was made on an official blog post, Crytek also confirmed that they are working on creating an entire Spatial OS game development kit for CryEngine. The official post also reads,

“Progress has already been made on this, and CryEngine developer Automaton has created its own open source integration with SpatialOS for its forthcoming 1000-player battle royale title Mavericks: Proving Grounds,” cryengine

For those who do not know, Spatial OS is already being used in games like Worlds Adrift.

Crytek has been around the seen for some time, and there is no denying that. While the studio did run into massive issues in the past, it is good to see that they are recovering and planning on making a comeback. As for the type of game we are going to see, it is a bit difficult to see, but needless to say, we will be keeping an eye on what is coming in the near future by Crytek.

Let’s hope it does not require a PC from the future in order to run properly. The details are scarce right now, but we will update the post as there is more information available.
