Larry Hryb, better known as Major Nelson announces Xbox Live’s Ultimate Game Sale

Xbox Live about to launch 'Ultimate Game Sale'This is a public service announcement. Beware digital store sales.

As a veteran of various Steam, GOG, Origin, GMG and Gamersgate sales, I now have a library of digitally owned games that to play through in its entirety would take more time than I probably have left to live. Sometimes I download one of these games and install it, only to realise that I have a million other games, that should take priority. At this stage, what usually happens is that I’ll stumble across a freeware rogue-like and 20 hours will disappear on something that didn’t cost me a single penny.

The sale begins tomorrow and will run through until 4th March and there’ll be a special offer each day to be announced on Mr Hryb’s twitter account

Now the joys of spending money you can’t really afford to spend on games you don’t really want or need is spreading to the consoles, as Major Nelson has announced a rather large sale for Xbox Live’s Games on Demand service. Games from the following list will receive up-to 85% off:

Assassins Creed
Assassins Creed 2
Batman Arkham Asylum
Batman Arkham city
Bioshock
Borderlands
Borderlands 2
Brotherhood (Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood)
Call of Juarez

This is pretty big news for XBLA. They have been continually criticized for having lack luster sales that offer few options and nothing more than 50% off, so it’s nice to see they are taking some hints from PSN and PC sales to actually offer some significant discounts.
