Xbox 720 will beat PS4 in next-gen ‘console wars’, think gamers

Console wars! What are they good for? Absolutely for marketing things, of course. And also, for the company that comes out on top. So, who will it be next time around, as the next generation of home gaming machines looms large?
According to respondents to a BeefJack survey distributed this week, it’s most likely to be Microsoft and their Xbox 720 – or whatever the hell it ends up being called.
While 38 percent of those surveyed said they were “unsure” which console would lead the way, Microsoft’s new machine trumped Sony’s – taking home 26 percent of the vote. Only 15 percent of gamers thought Sony’s PS4 would be the victorious machine.
Perhaps surprisingly, 18 percent of respondents checked the “other” box. Several people remarked that Apple – currently flying high in the mobile gaming market, but still without a living room presence – could surprise us all by dominating the console market next generation.
Only 3 percent of respondents thought Nintendo would continue their reign over the home console market – although some respondents noted the difference in markets between the core consoles and the casual ones.

Microsoft should stick to what they know best computers. As far as hardware goes the PS3 had better everything. If microsoft can wait and get their system right the first time they would have a good chance at being on top. I think microsoft is a good company but they jumped the gun a little early with the 360 trying to beat the PS3 but that backfired tramendously. I still think the PS4 will still beat out microsofts new system especially if microsoft plans to realease their system before sony because there is always new technology so i think the PS4 will still be a better console.
Got any other figures there for us? Margin of Error? Sample size?

I do hope they hurry up with the next generation of consoles, not because I want one (I’m a PC gamer) but because the current ones are holding back game development. Most major PC games (i.e. multi-platform releases) are hamstrung by the fact that they have to run on consoles, so the PC release typically gets little more than a higher-res version of a game made to run on 2005 hardware.
