Sources close to the Xbox 720 are reportedly claiming that the next-gen console will be six times as powerful as the current generation and will release towards the end of 2013.
If reports are to be believed, Microsoft‘s next-gen console, currently dubbed Xbox 720, will be a whopping six times as powerful as the current generation of consoles.
“Sources close to the project” told IGN that the processor will be on par with AMD‘s Radeon HD 6670 – a chip that supports DirectX 11, multidisplay output, 3D, and 1080P HD. This means that the machine will have roughly six times the raw graphics processing power of the Xbox 360, and will be 20-percent more powerful than Nintendo‘s Wii U.
The mysterious source also claimed that the console will see an autumn 2013 release, with mass production starting at the end of this year so that developers can get their hands on it. Without knowing who the actual sources are (you never do with these kind of rumours) it’s difficult to say if this will turn out true or false, so you may want to have your salt shakers at hand.
We’ve been seeing plenty of next-gen rumours lately, with the most recent one claiming that the Xbox 720 will include a tablet device similar to the Nintendo’s Wii U. You can find all the latest Xbox 720 rumours (and maybe some actual news soon) here at BeefJack.

The story for me is that the “missile” gap between the Wii U and “hardcore” consoles will be at most 20%(would always be exaggerated). Means the next Zelda wont look as much like a jaggy anus as Skyward Sword.
6 times is quite believable, Pcs are easily that much more advanced if not more. Nvidia and ATI have had to push crazy resolutions and triple monitor setups just to try and monitise the results of Moore’s Law.

Yeah, if it’s true I think it shows just how far ahead PC is in terms of tech, and how much consoles are holding it back.
That Radeon card isn’t even that high-end at the moment (at least I don’t think it is), so in two years time it’ll be pretty average.

Yeah, it certainly isn’t notably high end. Assuming these stats are accurate, it’s thoroughly underwhelming for a 2013 release.
