WoW: Shut Up That Damn ROBOT!

So last week Blizzard released two new in game items for purchase on it’s online store; one was a pretty star pony, which we’ve discussed and the other was a cute little robot buddy.  Along with following you to the ends of Azeroth Lil’ XT made fun sounds too.

The problem? Everyone around you heard those fun sounds too.  Also, the sounds aren’t fun; they’re annoying.

It appears that when coding XT Blizzard made a mistake regarding how the pet’s sounds work.  Instead of only broadcasting to the player owner, XT broadcasts to every player in the area.

Blizzard has issued a hotfix to temporarily help the problem, aka, they took the sounds out completely until a future patch can fix the issue.

See Blizzard’s official announcement below:

A hotfix was recently applied, which temporarily disabled some of the sounds Lil’ XT makes.

The issue was that some of his sounds were flagged in such a way that they play for everyone around him and not just the player that owns the pet, an annoying problem to be sure. We can’t alter volume or who the sounds play for through a hotfix so the temporary workaround is to disable them completely right now until the proper fix can be patched in later.
