Rumour: Witcher 3 announced [Updated - CD Projekt RED: Err, no it wasn't]

Posted January 27, 2012 by Julian Benson in News.

CD Projekt RED have allegedly announced they are working on the Witcher 3, and that it is coming to Xbox, PC, and PS3. Except they didn’t.

UPDATE: VG247 have managed to get confirmation from CD Projekt RED VP of Business Development Michal Nowakowski that there was in fact no such announcement made during the stream – so quite where Gamepur got the idea from we’re not sure.

Gamepur are reporting that CD Projekt RED have announced that they are working on the Witcher 3. Also, that the game will be making its debut on the PS3, as well as returning to the PC and Xbox.

They say the news was broken by the studio’s executive producer John Mamais whilst speaking at a Facebook streamed press conference. But, as the event was streamed, we are unable to confirm this. We are currently chasing up contacts and should know soon.

If true, the game will likely be released next year as it refers to only current gen consoles, and it is unlikely that the Witcher 3 would be released in 2012 as it’s the same year that the Witcher 2 hits the Xbox.

In the report, he neither confirms nor denies whether the Witcher 2 would be coming to PS3.

As soon as we know more you will be able to find it here. Plus you can watch the Xbox 360 release date announcement trailer for the Witcher 2 here.
