Quantic Dreams PS3 exclusive Beyond: Two Souls revealed itself earlier in 2012 and now we see Willem Dafoe enter as one of the main characters.

Ellen Page is no longer alone in Quantic Dream’s upcoming psychological action thriller Beyond: Two Souls. Today PlayStation and Quantic Dream have revealed that the incredibly famous, creepy and intriguing Willem Dafoe will be joining Page as a major character in Beyond: Two Souls. He is playing the part of Nathan Dawkins, a researcher who has worked with Jodie Holmes, the main character played by actress Ellen Page, since she was a young girl and he is someone who has to balance between the demands of a surrogate father and a scientist with some unsavory goals.

It is unclear of whether or not Nathan Dawkins will be a “good” character, seemingly not, but if it is anything like Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain then the player will have a lot of personal input into how to perceive the character. PlayStation revealed two new trailers today to reveal this new role. The first of which is a short behind the scenes video with Willem Dafoe that gives a brief introduction to his character and shows some of his excellent acting with Ellen Page. Take a look at that.

Motion capture does look immensely difficult. I often wonder if it more difficult to doing motion capture than doing a film, which I’m sure either of these actors could answer, but regardless it sure does create some excellent animations and visuals. This second video is an even shorter trailer that shows what these characters will look like in-game. The artists have certainly captured these actors quite well and I cannot wait to see more of them in action, especially in easily comparable videos like these two.

Beyond: Two Souls is a PS3 exclusive coming out on October 8th, 2013. I’m really hoping Quantic Dreams improves upon everything they created in Heavy Rain, especially the story and the gameplay aspects that often felt a bit mediocre in the otherwise uniquely enjoyable thriller.
