Wildman no more, Wildman Kickstarter cancelled
Sean Cargle February 11, 2013 - 11:59 pmThe game that was seen as the last hope for a dying Gas Powered Games has been cancelled with only four days left on the Kickstarter.

Gas Powered Games has had a troublesome time since they launched their Kickstarter for action RTS Wildman last month. Backers were slow to back, the game was merely in a prototype phase, and the community wasn’t too receptive, but then the news came out that a good chunk of Gas Powered Games had been let go, which made this Kickstarter even more question-able. Several hours CEO of Gas Powered Games, Chris Taylor, released a somewhat somber update for Widlman and he has declared that the Kickstarter is cancelled. There was still four days left for the Kickstarter, but they were only at $500,000 of their $1.1 million goal.
The main reason Taylor explains for the Kickstarter cancellation is hardly unexpected, “At this point, it makes sense for us to focus our attention on other ways to keep Gas Powered Games running.” So, no more Wildman, but in the video that was released with this update Taylor seemed somewhat hopeful about Gas Powered Games moving onto something else that doesn’t require him to “sell his soul” as an independent developer. Check out that video and the tiny post over at the Wildman Kickstarter page. They are going to be updating the public when they can about GPG’s condition and Taylor implores fans, especially those who backed the game, to keep their eyes on the GPG forums for news.
I do believe this is the first Kickstarter I’ve seen cancelled so close to the finish line and for such a dire reason, but I hope they move onto something else that is more unique and exciting. People were just not that interested in giving money to an ARPG/RTS, even though I personally found the mix to be rather intriguing.
