What players will be getting up to in Ninja Gaiden 3

The ESRB have published their rating of the upcoming Ninja Gaiden 3, and detailed all the violent things the player will be getting up to.

The ESRB have been at it again, rating games and publishing all the juicy bits in their reports. Yesterday brought the news that you could disembowel enemies  in Shank 2; today we learn that “players can use a knife to commit hara-kiri” in Ninja Gaiden 3.

The gameplay looks like it’s returning to that of its predecessors’ with “The melee-style combat [being] highlighted by slow-motion effects and exaggerated splashes of blood as enemies are frequently impaled, decapitated, and dismembered.”

Though the cutscenes sound like they’ve gone a bit Call of Duty ‘No Russian’: cutscenes contain more intense acts of violence: men getting stabbed as they beg for their lives (e.g., “Listen, I’m just trying to feed my kid! Please!”).

Plus it sounds like they’ve continued the same equal opportunities policy as that from the first game: “female characters are dressed in skin-tight outfits that accentuate their exaggerated cleavage”.

Ninja Gaiden 3 is to be released Q1 2012, I think that means soon, but those Qs seem awfully malleable when it comes to actual release dates. To find out more about the new ninja’em’up click here.

  1. Exaggerated cleavage? Ah well, it is one thing those games are known for. Well, if they are good, whatever.
