Revealed at E3 2009, Project Natal has been in the headlines ever since. It’s scheduled release in Fall 2010 has given many people lots to be excited about but Sony’s Jack Tretton is suggesting that you try an EyeToy instead.
Speaking on GTTV, Tretton suggested that:
“We’ve kind-of been looking for the right opportunity to bring motion gaming in a PlayStation like experience. We really feel that with Move, and the combination of the PlayStation Eye and our Move controller that we’ve got the opportunity to bring realistic gaming with motion to consumers for the first time.”
That all sounds well and good but he also noted:
“…if you really want to get involved in playing with a camera I suggest you go out and buy a $99 PlayStation 2 and play some of the great technology we invented eight years ago.”
That’s an unmistakeable dig at Natal but we’re not so sure that it’s quite the same thing. As far as motion control goes it probably was the start but you couldn’t actually control Burnout Paradise with your hands in a virtual space as far as we remember…
