Virgin Getting Back into Games Industry

It has been revealed that business entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson will be returning to the games industry, following his endeavour with Virgin Interactive, and is planning to unveil the new brand at this year’s e3.

The new service is reported to be online only, and will be using the event to “seek partnerships with leading publishers and content owners”.

Virgin Games began in 1984, publishing many successful titles such as the seminal point and click adventure ‘Beneath a Steel Blue Sky’ and innovative RTS Command and Conquer. At its height in 1997, the company had global revenues of $210 Million and had taken over publishing giant Electronic Arts for market leadership in Europe.

The company refused to comment on whether this is a return to mainstream games for Virgin until the event itself,  although were able to confirm that Branson himself will be in attendance.
