A concept image appearing on a Valve artist’s site shows a ship that supports information discovered last year about a secret project .

Last year’s DOTA 2 leak included files for another Valve project titled only “SOB“. The files suggested a game involving space flight, but beyond that there was no official confirmation or denial. Now, the above image has appeared on Valve concept artist Peter Konig’s site. Clearly down the side of the spaceworthy vessel is the lettering “SOB 49″.
A similar image was pulled from Konig’s blog last year. But not before wily fans grabbed a copy.

The slight differences between the images suggests Konig has continued working on the project into the new year.
However, this doesn’t prove that Valve are working on the project as a whole. It may once have been a Valve project, one close to Konig’s heart, and he’s continued creating images since its closure. It may be the beginning of a 12 year tease which culminates in Valve etching SOB into the face of the moon. We’ll know more as this develops.
In the mean time Konig as replied to questions from Halflife2.net. They asked whether this was for practice or production, to which he repied “Some of it is mine, not all. Can’t comment on it either way…. Some of it is on my site now, so it can’t be toooo sensitive, now can it?” Nice and oblique.
