Undead Labs answers some questions about State of Decay in latest Q&A

About a week ago Undead Labs posted an update on their blog about survivors, skill traits and personalities in their zombie apocalypse simulator State of Decay. I wrote about it and it seems to have raised quite a few questions from the community.
Luckily, Undead Labs has cleared up some of the questions I (and many others) had about the systems at play in the game in a lengthy FAQ on the official forums.
Since the big focus in their last update was on character traits and personalities, Undead Labs clarified that there will be storyline characters that will be the same every time you meet them, but others will be randomly generated. “Many other survivors are generated, with their names, appearance, traits and skills all potentially varying each time you play the game.”
The skills and traits possessed by survivors won’t always be apparent when you first meet them, so keep that in mind before you invite someone into your community. “You get a limited glimpse into this and have to make your decisions based on the information you have. When you talk to someone, you’ll be able to see their personality and one major background trait.” So that asshole you meet might end up being a lot more useful than he initially lets on.
Survivors are limited to seven skills and six traits as a maximum, though they’ll probably have fewer. There are 35 available skills and they can range from the useful (construction, vehicle repair) to the useless (sexting, sudoku and reality show trivia.) Undead Labs does warn not to count someone out because they don’t have useful skills – after all, an extra pair of hands never hurts. “More than one project has been scuttled by ‘too many managers, too few workers.’”
Check out the rest of the FAQ on the official forums and look for more coverage on the game here on BeefJack. I’m very interested to see where development is going. The focus on base building, character personalities and RPG elements really excites me about where the game is going and I’m looking forward to seeing their finished product when the game eventually releases.

I’m really hoping that this provides the great single player experience that Day Z Standalone will lack. I’m immensely looking forward to them both, especially since they both games aren’t rushing to finish early or anything, and hopefully they show people that the zombie genre isn’t over saturated because unique and interesting games like this one, and DayZ, have yet to be fully realized and experienced.
