The Miiverse has already been hacked… by mistake?
Keegan Spindler November 19, 2012 - 12:57 pmNews: It only took a few hours for the brand new Wii U console to be hacked, or rather, for a backdoor to be found in the OS system that allowed a normal user into the inner workings of the consoles Miiverse.
According to NeoGAF member Trike he found the loophole whilst trying to set up his friends list. Though the trick has now been corrected, Trike spent hours inside the admin area of the system.
This is the story according to Trike: ”I found out I could access the debug menu on Miiverse by hitting the “X” button on the gamepad while hovering over the exit button. I found an admin access list or something to that effect. I couldn’t really do anything from there though. I could view different messages from a developer though. One mentioned that there would be big games coming out(announced?) on the 10th of December. A different said “POKEMON” and “SUICIDE”. Sorry, bro.”
He also mentioned that he had found sections alluding to titles that had not yet been announced, including “Yoshi’s Island Wii U” and “Soul Hackers”. This is by no means confirmation of these titles, as the hack hasn’t been confirmed to be true.
“There were even more subforums for games specifically, including Yoshi’s Island Wii U and Soul Hackers, and less specific ones like “Metal Gear Solid” and “Resident Evils”. By the time I stopped posting on gaf to check for more it was fixed, and someone pointed out that Nintendo put up a tweet about a miiverse fix.”
Trike adds that even while he was inside the system he believes that he didn’t actually have any power to do anything:
“I don’t know if I really could flag posts to be deleted or whatever, but I know I could not make myself an admin or delete admins. At least when I pressed the buttons nothing happened.”
