The fall of the paid MMORPG continues, with Korean MMO Tera becoming Free to Play in Europe next month.

Tera goes FTP

It’s a slide that doesn’t seem destined to slow anytime soon, as Gameforge AG has today announced that Tera is joining games like the Old Republic and DC Universe Online in becoming Free to Play in Europe. The game will be making the switch over in February, following in the footsteps of the Korean version, which announced that it would be going FTP in December.

There will be a two tier system inplemented, with free accounts having access to all facets of the game. The only limitations that free account holders will face is in the numbers of character slots that they can have, and in the number of safe deposits that they can use. Players that purchased the game will have unfettered access to all 8 character slots, all the safe deposits available and will be given a special title.

One reason to play the game is the newly instituted TERA Club, with perks that include increased experience and an epic mount. Anyone with a subscription to the game currently is automatically entered into the club.
