Suffering Skyrim bugs? “Hang in there” says Bethesda

Posted November 15, 2011 by Simon Williams in News.

Bethesda’s Pete Hines has promised that the company are working on Skyrim’s bugs to “fix as much as we can” and that anxious fans should “hang in there”.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has attracted its fair share of critical acclaim – go read Lewis Denby’s BeefJack Skyrim review to read his thoughts on the game – but it’s also got its smattering of bugs across the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions. I mean, it is a Bethesda game, after all.

Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing at Bethesda, says the company is working hard at repairing as many bugs, errors and issues as it can right now, though. Talking on Twitter, Hines said: “we are continuing to work on an update for all platforms to address issues any bugs and perf issues we can.”

“We will fix as much as we can for your platform. I don’t know if it will fix “your” bug. Takes a while to test/fix/regress. Hang in there.”

Hines recommended that if you’re suffering the buggy Skyrim blues, you should contact Bethesda’s tech support using this form.

So how’s your Skyrim experience been so far? Blissfully bug free? Or festooned with crashes to desktop, graphic glitches and twitching corpses? I certainly had a fair share of the latter during my opening hours with it, so let us know what yours was like in the comments section.

The Elder Scrolls V review [PC, PS3, Xbox 360]

“Skyrim demonstrates that they are capable of telling fascinating stories set against the backdrop of an unprecedentedly rich universe. From there, the possibilities stretch wider than the expanse of Skyrim province, and all of Tamriel beyond it.”

  1. Been putting off getting Skyrim as I should be getting work done (a strategy which apparently isn’t working too well, seeing how I’m procrastinating by commenting on a gaming site), so I must admit that I’m a little glad to see that the game is a bit buggy on release. Hopefully they’ll have cleared it up by the time I get around to buying a copy.

    • I’m playing on PS3, and have been relatively bug free so far (apart from the odd Spider trying to kill me). My horse’s hooves spend a lot of time clipping through the ground, but that’s just a minor annoyance and I haven’t had anything remotely game-breaking luckily. I know people playing on PC who are suffering with bugs a lot more than I am though.
