Forget motion controls, the next leap in immersive gaming could be in the form of thought control – just ask the the subjects playing Doom.

Gerwin Schalk from the Wadsworth Research Center has given video evidence of a subject playing Doom – with his mind.
The evidence, provided at the Emerging Technology Conference at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, shows the player using a joystick to move and aim but firing with just the power of his brainwaves.
Schalk said: “What I’m here to tell you is that this is not science fiction. This is an emerging reality,”.
Researchers were able to tap into the alpha brain waves of the subjects – the subjects already being wired up for investigation into the treatment of illnesses such as epilepsy.
Hopefully this experiment will be connected with this earlier experiment showing improved gaming results when subjects heads were strapped to batteries.
