Steam now sells non-game software too, world domination to follow
Joannes Truyens October 2, 2012 - 8:08 pmNews: Valve Software have officially expanded their Steam digital delivery service beyond games to include software as well. The first batch of products all focus on — hey, games!

Two months ago, Valve Software said they’d be starting to sell software via Steam in one month’s time. And that day has come, only two months later! Yes, a whopping seven products kick off this new service. And they’re all designed for making games, of course.
The products currently available on the store are ArtRage Studio Pro, CameraBag 2, GameMaker: Studio, 3D-Coat, 3DMark Vantage, and 3DMark 11. The free Source Filmmaker is listed as the seventh.
“Many of the launch titles will take advantage of popular Steamworks features, such as easy installation, automatic updating, and the ability to save your work to your personal Steam Cloud space so your files may travel with you,” says the official press release. And as a celebration, all products are 10% off until the end of the week.
Valve are clearly trying to support the indie community with this first batch of products. Let’s see what else will be added to the mix in the coming months.
I foresee a day where I’ll be getting the fifth season of Suits through Steam. Yes, fifth. Because this world is just and fair.
