EA have announced a 1st March release date for Star Wars: The Old Republic in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore.
A galaxy far, far away is finally going down under on 1st March. Officially that is. Despite US and Europe getting Star Wars: The Old Republic in December last year, EA are only just now getting round to offering the MMO in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore.
This hasn’t stopped people importing copies to join the Republic though, even EB Games were offering to do it for their customers if they asked. This, of course, meant that anyone playing in those territories were connecting to servers overseas and resulted in high latency for them.
The news confirming the release also stated that on 1st March the Asia Pacific servers will finally go live. EA are also offering a limited time option of moving any existing characters to those servers. Any that qualify will be contacted by the publisher.
The Standard Edition will retail for $79.99 AUD / $89.99 NZD / $389.00 HKD / $64.00 SGD and the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game, an Origin.com exclusive, will retail for $89.99 AUD / $99.99 NZD / $465.00 HKD / $76.90 SGD. You’ll also receive a 30 Day free trial as part of the packages.
