Square Enix cancels Hitman: Absolution online pass

News: Hitman: Absolution online pass removed, confirms Square Enix

Looking to get Hitman: Absolution soon at a cheaper price? Good news for those looking to get a second hand copy of the game, as the online pass has been taken from the game’s Contracts Mode.

Speaking to CVG, Square Enix said “We’d actually planned to have this mode accessible via a code in the game’s box, but we really want to make it available to anybody that plays the game – so we want to take a new approach.”

The Contracts mode will appear automatically if you’re a US user. Elsewhere, a one time code will be inside the box or alternatively the ‘buy contracts’ option is in the menu. It is a free download. This suggests to me that the decision to remove the online pass may be down to the mixed critical response to the game.

Getting Hitman: Absolution? It’s out now on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Check out our coverage of the game right here on BeefJack.
