News: A team of players has smashed speed-running world records by completing Portal in just over eight minutes, recording their efforts in a detailed Google Doc.

Okay. This is quite something.

Portal – a game that would take most normal people at least a couple of hours to play through – has now been completed in just eight and a half minutes.

The team of speed-runners say they used no cheats or hacks to achieve the astonishing feat, although they did exploit a number of bugs and glitches that they discovered during their time playing the game. The video shows portals being shot through walls rather than onto them, and players clipping outside levels.

Nevertheless, it’s quite the thing.

And it’s all explained in some detailed notes recorded in a huge Google Doc. Reading them is quite fascinating.
