South Park: The Game has been announced via the cover of next month’s Game Informer; a full-scale RPG for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, developed in collaboration between THQ, Obsidian and series creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
Where did this come from? In a totally unexpected move, Game Informer has announced that South Park: The Game is in development. It’s a “full scale RPG” for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, from THQ and Obsidian, due for release sometime in 2012.
Series creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker will be writing the script and overseeing development of the game, in which you’ll be a new kid in town who must join up with the cast and fight back against various threats to it.
It’s difficult to laugh it off with such big companies behind it, including RPG behemoth Obsidian, best known for Knights of the Old Republic II and, more recently, Fallout: New Vegas.
Expect more when the magazine reaches door mats and store shelves later this month.
