Sony boss Kaz Hirai has gone on record to explain why the company has been cagey about revealing a price or battery life estimate for its new NGP handheld: the console is still in prototype phase.
Until all of the technology is finalised, he said, they can’t accurately predict what they’ll have to charge for it, nor will they know how long the battery is likely to last.
But they’ll make sure it’s all in line with what’s expected from the market, he told Impress Watch (Japanese).
It’ll be interesting to see how both stack up against those of Nintendo’s 3DS. That handheld’s battery life is supposedly three to five hours, which disappointed many who hoped to use the console for longer stretches of play. And the UK price for the 3DS seemed disproportionately high compared to that in other countries.
