Sony: No Comment on Resistance 3 Rumours

There are some rumours a-flyin’. An Insomniac Games newsletter teased the reveal of an exciting new PS3 title in the near future, and word’s been spreading that it might well be a second sequel to reasonably-acclaimed first-person shooter Resistance.
The first game was one of Sony’s PS3 launch titles, and reviews – while generally positive – weren’t glowing. But Resistance 2 was largely very well received across the board.
But Sony, quite understandably, are keeping their lips sealed.
We put the burning question to a Sony representative today, but couldn’t wrangle any new information: “I’m afraid I can’t comment on this,” we were told.
Despite the rumours, and despite some outlets reporting that Insomniac had definitively teased Resistance 3, no game was mentioned by name in the newsletter.
“We’re happy to reveal that we’ll be announcing our newest game sometime between now and the Penny-Arcade Expo over Labour Day weekend,” it read – leading many to assume whatever unveiling is planned will take place at Gamescom in Germany this month.
But what got people talking was use of the term “couldn’t resist” elsewhere in the newsletter: “We’re really excited to finally reveal this project, and we couldn’t resist being the first to share the news with you.”
That might be reaching a little bit. But we’ll sure let you know as soon as news breaks.
