The third iteration of EA’s respected Skate series released today, and has already been met with fairly solid critical response. Electronic Arts has also released a launch trailer showing off their finished product.
As a franchise, Skate is best known for its unique dual control stick system in which one stick controls the skater, while the other takes care of the board. Shoulder buttons are then used to perform grabs. This control scheme led to a simulation style skating game that actually emulated real life skating rather than fantastical, over the top renditions of the extreme sport. It should be noted, however, that the games have been getting progressively more crazy when it comes to bending physical limitations of skateboarding.
Skate has now expanded into its third generation, and each title has built gameplay modes and other features on top of the new innovations of its predecessor. As such, you can expect Skate 3 to offer clean visuals, smooth controls, exciting multiplayer and plenty to do in the single player game.
Skate 3 has released on both the Xbox 360 and PS3.
