Shooters Dominate XBL Most Played

The Xbox 360 is often thought of as the console that accommodates the shooting genre best. It’s hard to avoid that when half of the Most Played list includes first person shooters.

Halo 3 tops the list, most likely due to the increase in players after the release of ODST and is closely followed by COD: 4, COD: WaW and ODST itself. Gears of War 2, Left 4 Dead and GTA IV are also on the list.

The only games that don’t primarily involve shooting are Madden NFL 10, FIFA  10 and the recent South Park XBLA title.

In around a month, it is entirely likely that the list will be populated with 2 Halo games, 3 COD’s and 2 L4D’s with Gears 2 making an appearance. That would be 8 games from 4 franchises taking up the top ten. For anyone who likes to shoot either Covenant, Infected or Locust, now is a very good time to own a 360.
