Rumour: Mass Effect Trilogy to PS3

Posted January 20, 2009 by Charles McManamy in News.

Since EA took over Bioware there have been persistent rumours and speculation that Mass Effect will no longer be exclusive to the Xbox 360. In the latest installment Secondstorygamer is reporting that a “fairly reliable source” close to Electronic Arts has indicated that the original Mass Effect will be coming to PS3 in mid 2009, with the  rest of the trilogy to follow. If true there will be an official announcement coming at the GDC which starts on March 23.

This rumour would fit with a statement given last year to CVG from Bioware that they would be Xbox 360 exclusive for “at least a short period of time”. This type of ambiguous statement could indicate Mass Effect 2 will be a timed exclusive similar to the first Bioshock. I personally suspect that this rumour will be confirmed with the original mass effect coming to PS3 later this year, and Mass Effect 2 also coming to PS3 around the time of the PC release of Mass Effect 2 anything from 3-12 months after Mass Effect 2 is initially released.

  1. I wouldn’t be suprised if this rumour becomes a fact. Something I was expecting EA took over. I expected to come quicker that this though.

  4. I really liked part one. I am so anxious for part two and I am so sure part three will be great as well. I hope to see more details on part 2 and 3 soon.
