Several job adverts for Rockstar San Diego reference an open world game project – potentially a sequel to the studio’s 2010 hit Red Dead Redemption.
Are Rockstar San Diego starting work on Red Dead Redemption 2? A couple of job adverts for the developers reveal them to be planning an open world project – adverts, namely, for a Gameplay Programmer “ready for the challenges posed by large scale open worlds with complex AI and physics” and an AI Programmer “who is ready to help us create the best open world experiences, and push the limits of Artifical Intelligence in areas such as pathfinding, combat, and decision-making, with a particular eye towards making it all look believable to the player”.
Yes, this could be anything from Red Dead Redemption 2, a francise reboot (as Redemption was to Red Dead Revolver) or an entirely new free-roaming IP. But Rockstar can’t have ignored the enormous popularity of John Marston’s adventure, with 8 million copies having been sold by this time last year alone – a sequel must surely have looked like a profitable (and relatively risk-free) endeavor.

Still hoping for a PC version of RDR, suppose that’s pretty unlikely by now though.
