Razer has revealed ‘Project Fiona’ at CES, a concept tablet that will be capable of running current generation PC games.
High-end PC gaming on the go isn’t a concept that many would consider a genuine possibility, but Razer are a bit more ambitious than most. Project Fiona is a concept PC gaming tablet that promises to run current generation PC games in your hands.
The tablet features integrated dual-controllers, a multi-touch screen, in-built accelerometers, a 10.1″ 1280×800 display, Dolby 7.1 surround sound, and an Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor. You can see a full list of features, information and images over at the official Project Fiona site.
Speaking about the device, Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan said: “While multi-touch screens have become the de facto user interface for tablets, they are not the right interface for serious PC gaming. The user interface we have designed for Project Fiona allows all existing PC games to be played right out of the box and also provides game developers new opportunities as they develop next-gen games on a highly-intuitive platform.”
Both developers and gamers are going to love the new user interface that combines the best of a gamepad, multi-touch screen and accelerometers for an all-new gaming experience on-the-go.”
The tablet is still at the concept stages, so for now you should take all this information with a pinch of salt. However, if Razer can make the concept a reality then it could rejig how we think about tablet gaming. You’ve also got to think that with all the power under the hood, the battery life is going to be minimal at best.
Until Project Fiona becomes reality, the PS Vita will surely be the go-to gadget for high-end gaming on the fly. Check out our feature on Sony‘s handheld and its games to see just what all the fuss is about.
