Left and right companies are dropping their employees by the dozen. Raven Software is the most recent, laying off an alleged 30-35 employees, Kotaku says.
Raven has worked closely with id software in recent years, from the very recently released Wolfenstein, to 2005′s Quake 4. A subsidiary of Activision, several Raven employees were moved to work on the delayed Singularity. According to the official statement from Activision:
“With the recent completion of both X-Men Origins Wolverine, based on the summer blockbuster movie, and Wolfenstein, the next chapter of the famed franchise, Raven Software is slightly reducing its workforce to better reflect the studio’s upcoming slate”
Raven hasn’t closed though, so there is still hope that they’ll put out more games in the future, and that Activision won’t just cut their losses. Although with Activision’s track record, it wouldn’t surprise me.
