PSN Suite closed Beta: Indie developers invited to apply

The PSN Suite, Sony’s answer to the Xbox Live Indie Games, is now open for developers to apply to work on a range of Playstation Certified devices.

While Sony’s online service may still be lagging behind that of their main competitor, their latest efforts to draw in indie developers means good things for their hardware’s future. Sony has reached out to devs to apply for the Developers Program to gather feedback on the SDK’s (Software Development Kits) to increase efficiency and reduce costs for developers in the long run.

“Prior to the official release of PlayStation®Suite SDK, we will provide the developer program (closed beta test) with PlayStation®Suite SDK to limited participants. The intention of the closed beta test is to improve the SDK quality with feedbacks from those participants.”

As the PS Vita will be entering a dangerous market where competing devices have games that are available for free or extremely cheap, their inclusion of indie developers will provide them with an expansive selection of cheap content, as well as a huge advantage over the 3DS.
