PS Vita release date announced
Yuliya Geikhman October 19, 2011 - 1:45 amSony has finally announced the PS Vita release date in North America and Europe: February 22, 2012.

Sony’s upcoming handheld, the PS Vita, is set for release in NA and Europe on February 22. The PS Vita will be available just two months after its release in Japan.
Sony have said, “Our first-party studios and army of publishing partners have been extremely hard at work to ensure that PS Vita launches with a vast library of titles that deliver unique gameplay experiences that go beyond any handheld or mobile device on the market.”
The handheld has some unique functionality like the ability for players to broadcast themselves live and support for PSP-PS Vita ad-hoc multiplayer, but it faces a hard market, with some saying the Vita may be too late. Still, others are very hopeful for the handheld, saying that it has the power of a pc and that it is indeed one very cool device.
The PS Vita will be launching with 26 games in Japan, but we are still uncertain as to the full line-up here in the west. Sony has stated that there are “more than 80 games currently in production from first and third party studios” including LittleBigPlanet, Resistance: Burning Skies, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Assassin’s Creed, FIFA, Call of Duty, and many more. “The PS Vita is poised to deliver gameplay experiences unmatched by any handheld or mobile device on the market.”
As Sony CEO and President Jack Tretton states on the official announcement on the Playstation Blog, “It’s never been a better time to be a part of PlayStation Nation and I can’t wait for you to experience this revolutionary handheld system.”
