Proteus is a uniquely relaxing game about exploration and music, coming to Steam on 30th January

Proteus releasing on Steam late JanuaryIf you’ve ever felt that games are a bit too violent, and you’d rather walk around a procedurally generated landscape as music created and influenced by your surroundings washes over you as you fall into a reflective state of total calm, you might like to check out Proteus. Coming from indie developers Ed Key and David Kanega, Proteus has been around in beta form for a long while now, but is finally making the big leap across to Steam on 30th January.

In the announcement it was noted that “All existing and future purchasers will get a Steam key and the version on the Humble Store will remain DRM free.”. Furthermore the game which is available now for $7.50 over here will have its priced shunted up slightly to the still reasonable $10. But if you want the current bargain price now, you’d best hurry!

I really enjoyed this game the last time I tried the demo, but unless they’ve added a ton of content and some kind of objective it $10 seems incredibly steep. I get that is very experimental in the way that you pretty much don’t interact with anything, other than the music note thing, and I like that about it, but I don’t really see the price justification.
