Valve have announced a second free DLC update to Portal 2, which will feature an in-game map editor and the ability to share player-made maps online.

Valve are riding high this weekend, crowdsurfing on the outstretched hands of their fans, who voted Portal 2 Ultimate Game of the Year at the Golden Joysticks in London yesterday. Back in Valve Corp. HQ in Bellevue, though, they’re hard at work on a new DLC map editor, for release in early 2012.
This is brow-furrowing news for those who’ve been enjoyed the authoring tools Valve released back in May, a modified version of the tools used to put the game together.
But 2012′s in-game editor will be “easy-to-use”, according to its own press release, and will let users build and share single-player and co-op maps with the community, who can view, play and vote on them with a single click.
It sounds like ‘usability’ is a word doing the rounds at Valve currently, and that we’re in for a fully-integrated mod-picking interface to rival Little Big Planet.
No platforms have been mentioned at this point, which – fingers crossed – means that user-made maps will be available across PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 early next year.
Portal 2′s first round of DLC, entitled Peer Review, released on October 4th.

I think this will be great! I enjoyed both the single-player and coop. Hopefully there will be some folks up to the task of making some awesome maps.
