OMG, 4oD on PS3?

With Sony so focused on their gonzo push toward 3D technology, it’s refreshing to hear the head-in-the-clouds company is also considering ways to add value to their products that won’t force their customers to decide between electronic entertainment and making their rent payment. A new source for streaming video would fit nicely into that category.

Based on a statement in Broadcast magazine, TechRadar is reporting the widely popular British Channel 4 is in talks with Sony to bring their on demand service, 4oD, to the PS3. After all, they can’t let their competitor BBC – who already offers its iPlayer program on the PS3 – have all the fun. TechRadar also reports that an iPad app for 4oD is also in development for expanding British television on the go. The anonymous source cited stated “We’re looking to launch on the PS3…4oD is becoming a platform agnostic product and will be successful because of the quality of the content.”

  1. Very cool, iplayer is useful and 4OD will be even better. Now I have just seen that lovefilm are doing movie streaming to TV’s and PC’s, so if they can pull their finger out and get that on the consoles everything will be golden!
