Oddworld to Compete Against Bunnies (not Rabbids)

Just Add Water have announced today that a remake of 2005′s Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath will be making its way to the PlayStation 3 in time for Easter 2011. There was a hint that something was on the horizon almost two months ago. So if you were planning on spending vast amounts of money on Easter Bunny cuddly toys and poorly made chocolate eggs, you may want to skip that process next year and just head to the PSN store.
Not only will the remake feature 720p visuals; much more detail in the characters; normal mapping and self-shadowing; re-mastered dialogue, but it will also have PlayStation Move support. So you’ll be able to play as Stranger in a way you’ve never before imagined. JAW have also been working alongside Oddworld’s founders Lorne Lanning and Sherry McKenna to ensure the remake is faithful to the original moolah-chasing epic.
Now if we could just get some of the pre-2000 Oddworld games given this special treatment that would be most awesome indeed. I want Abe back.

Graet news. But I expected Stranger’s Wrath will be released first on PC as part of Oddbox.
We’ve mentioned this, I think, on the site before. However the way the PR are talking, this isn’t just a re-release this is remake that’s coming to PS3.
