Valve have updated Team Fortress 2 once again, giving the Scout a back-mounted boombox and making it easier for sound-based items to be submitted through Steam Workshop.
As if TF2‘s Scout wasn’t enough of an over-extroverted jerk already, Valve‘s latest addition to the free-to-play shooter gives him a boombox – The Boston Boom-Bringer – that plays one of four sick beats, bro whenever he taunts, most likely over your shotgunned corpse. Valve’s accompanying blog entry is, true to form, brilliant:
“Most people only know LL Cool J as a rapper, actor, fashion designer, record producer, and author. Now, though, you can add “spooky-ass Nostradamus” to that list, because we’ve just released a misc slot item for the Scout called “The Boston Boom Bringer” that pretty much exactly matches the lyrics LL penned almost thirty years ago.”
To facilitate more musical items like the Boom-Bringer being lovingly shovelled into the gaping maw of the Steam Workshop, modders can now make use of a new ‘Sound Device’ category so their creations won’t get mixed up with clearly inferior submissions that don’t play any sweet riffs whatsoever.
