Players of the newest addition to the Zelda franchise, Skyward Sword, learned the hard way that it came with a game-breaking bug. Nintendo has released a statement on the issue, but has no answers yet.

A bug has been discovered in the mission ‘Song for the Hero’, in which players cannot progress if they:
- Fetch the song of the Thunder Dragon from Lanaryu Mine
- Speak with Golo inside the mine
- Finish the Thunder Dragon Sequence and then
- Return to speak to Golo.
This order of events locks the player from the forest and volcano region, leaving them unable to finish the quest.
Nintendo have come forth with the dreaded advice to either ‘start the game over’ or ‘to use an earlier save file to continue’ – hopefully you all had multiple saves and saved often.
“I wish I had a better answer, but I’m afraid there currently is no other fix available. I can assure, however, that we are documenting all feedback we receive on this issue” said a Nintendo representative on ZeldaInformer, “Thank you for your patience and support.”
Let us know in the comments below if you’ve been bitten by this bug, and what you plan to do about it.
Keep on eye on BeefJack’s Zelda news for any progress made with the glitch.

If I recall, there was a similar game-breaking glitch in Twilight Princess (the infamous “saving in the cannon room” glitch). I don’t know if that ever got patched either.
Oh, Nintendo.

Also, I think (THINK, mind) that there is a game breaker in Ocarina 3DS, although I hope I’m being thick.
Zelda’s letter got me through the Gate in somesuchvillage, but a goron now seems to need it. Could have sworn i still had it in my inventory but it’s gone. The soldier i first showed it to was no help, and returning to zelda to acquire another was similarly unyielding.
Haven’t played the bloody game for months because of that stupid royal letter.
I hope someone calls me an idiot and shines a light.

Oh no, you’re fine.
The Goron doesn’t need a letter, he just needs proof that you’re “associated with the Royal family.” Think about what Impa taught you.
