Ninja Gaiden: Razor’s Edge is the first R18+ game in Australia
Yuliya Geikhman January 12, 2013 - 3:55 amAustralia has issued an R18+ games rating for the first time ever, and the lucky winner is Ninja Gaiden: Razor’s Edge.

Until January 1st of this year, Australia hasn’t had a mature games rating. All games that were not classified as safe for kids were either heavily censored or banned from the country altogether. Considering how many games are intended for a mature audience, the country’s introduction of the new Restricted 18+ rating is great news for Australian videogame fans.
The new rating started its young life on the first of this month, and the very first game to ever receive the rating has now been named – Ninja Gaiden: Razor’s Edge. The Wii U game was given the honor since it “contains violence that is high in impact because of its frequency, high definition graphics, and emphasis on blood effects,” stated Classification Board director Lesley O’Brien (via vg247). This marks the first in a brand new category for Australia.
