New Resident Evil 6 details point to action-centric experience

Posted February 15, 2012 by Lewis Denby in News.

Capcom have released new details about Resident Evil 6, including setting and character info, as well as some hints to the style of play.

Resident Evil 6 will be set in the year 2013, Capcom have confirmed amid a glutton of new details about the upcoming survival horror game.

It’ll take place in China, but a third playable character – yet to be revealed – is caught up in conflict in Eastern Europe when the game begins.

Enemies will be more agile than in previous Resident Evil titles, with zombies able to run, climb and use weapons effectively. As the player, you can shoot and move simultaneously, something the series has traditionally avoided.

Are we looking at another action-centric Resident Evil? Plenty of people will be upset if so.

We’ll have more Resident Evil 6 news as it breaks, so make sure you keep checking back.

  1. Hmmm I’m torn about the moving/shooting thing. It’s almost anti-Resident Evil. As long as you aim isn’t great and you have to stop to pull off decent shots I think it should be fine. And only when you’re walking slowly. Did sort of bother me in 5 I couldn’t loose a few shots as I backed off.

  2. It’s weird when I played resident evil 5, I switched immediately to the resi 4 controls, looking back i’m not really sure (I dont think im that much of a purist).
That said the only thing that concerns me is “use weapons effectively”, surely not gun totting zombies?
