Neo-Geo Portable being developed by SNK

SNK Playmore are working on a portable version of their 90s console.

The Neo-Geo was a classic console in the 90s, but unfortunately never reached our European shores. In performance it outpaced it’s contemporaries, the SNES and Mega Drive, but due to the price tag never took a significant market share. Now SNK are making it portable.

Reportedly called the “Neo-Geo Keitai” or “Neo-Geo Portable” the system comes with a 4.3 inch LCD screen, a 2GB harddrive and a SD card slot which is presumably for more disk space.

The system will come with 20 games already installed. These are: World Heroes, Ultimate 11, Top Player’s Golf, Sengoku, Nam-1975, Mutation Nation, Last Resort, King of Monsters, Frenzy, Cyber-Lip, Fatal Furty Special, The Art of Fighting, Super Sidekicks, League Bowling, Metal Slug, Magical Lord, Baseball Stars Professional, Samurai Shodown, The King of Fighters ’94, and Fatal Fury.

SNK haven’t announced the handheld themselves as yet. The news came from Japanese site Famicon-Plaza.

BeefJack will keep you up to date with any further Neo-Geo Portable news.
