Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer gets free weekend on Steam

Posted February 17, 2012 by James Archer in News.

The multiplayer portion of Modern Warfare 3 will be free-to-play on Steam from now until Sunday.

They’ll be no shortage of gruff men with guns in the world of online gaming this weekend, as the multiplayer mode of Modern Warfare 3 has gone temporarily free-to-play on Steam.

You’ve got until 1pm PST/9pm GMT on Sunday to download and play the fast-paced shooter at a cost of zero [applicable monetary units]. Fire weapons! Throw grenades! Capture flags! Get beaten to death by a man with a riot shield! At this price, can you afford not to get beaten to death by a man with a riot shield?

Unsurprisingly, MW3′s multiplayer has shot up Steam’s most-played list, currently enjoying the 4th most players of any game and reaching the 3rd highest peak player count today. If you feel like joining in, hit up Modern Warfare 3 on Steam. Xbox 360 players, don’t fret – at least you’re getting all the Rob Riggle-endorsed DLC before anyone else.
