A patch for the PC version of Modern Warfare 3 has added five new Prestige ranks, and files within the game suggest another five will be added in the future.
Since Call of Duty 4, that which was known as ‘Tenth Prestige’ was effectively COD’s level cap – a mythical realm reserved only for those with enough time and shooty-shoot skills to reset and regain all their stats and unlocks ten times over. Now, after a patch for Modern Warfare 3 on PC, there are five more levels of Prestige, setting a new cap of 15.
That distant sound you just heard? Tens of thousands of non-Prestiged players groaning.
Infinity Ward community man Robert Bowling tweeted a confirmation, saying “Added 400 new ranks of 5 new Prestige levels in Modern Warfare 3 on PC in latest patch. Expect the same on consoles soon for everyone!”
MW3-ers who burn through Prestige ranks like they’re other players may even have an additional five levels on the way – Charlie Intel found icons for a total of ten new Prestiges in the update’s files, indicating this patch only adds half of what’s been planned. Good for them! Now, I need to end this post so I can sit fully-clothed in a shower and sob at my inadequacy.
