Mojang developer Jens Bergenstein has tweeted a picture of the new Skill System for Minecraft, likely to be introduced in the 2.0 update, which shows character bonuses for a variety of your character’s skills.

Jens Bergenstein has given his Twitter followers an insight into what we can expect to see in Minecraft 2.0 – a Skill System giving bonuses for different character abilities.

The Mojang developer tweeted the following:

“This will probably ->NOT<- be included in Beta 1.9, but it’s a nice screenshot:”

And linked to the following image that show character bonuses for characteristics such as Speed, Strength, Jump, Resistance and Water Breathing:

It appears clear that Mojang are looking to add more and more features to Minecraft designed to provide focus to the gameplay, moving it away from it’s original free-form nature and adding RPG elements, as evidenced by the introduction of the village systems and strongholds, as well as the new armour system in the forthcoming 1.9 update.

It’ll be fascinating to see what else Notch and company have in store for Minecraft 2.0 and beyond as we move closer to the game’s official release at MineCon on November the 18th.

In the meantime you can keep up with all the latest Minecraft news here at BeefJack.
