Minecraft: Pocket Edition Android Survival update released, imminent on iOS
Jeremy Peel February 11, 2012 - 11:29 amThe much-anticipated Survival mode update for Minecraft: Pocket Edition has been released on Android this morning.

Night and day, swords and shields, zombies and sheep. All have been lacking from Minecraft: Pocket Edition until today, the day on which its empty sandbox begins to fill up in the manner of its PC counterpart, thanks to a new update for Android devices.
Mojang are waiting only for Apple to approve the update before it is released for iOS, revealed developer Daniel Kaplan on Twitter.
The update is the first iteration of Survival mode on mobile devices, with many more planned in typical Mojang fashion. It includes day and night transition, animals and zombies, as well as some new blocks and doors and fences.
Sounds a little slim? In January, Kaplan wrote that much of Minecraft: Pocket Edition’s code needed to be “rewritten” for Survival features, as the game was originally designed with only the Creative sandbox mode in mind. All of the groundwork for future additions is included in today’s update.
