Minecraft 1.8.2 adds hunger and more to Xbox 360 version

News: The Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition is to get a hunger gauge, as well as abandoned mine sections and a new enemy type, in the 1.8.2 update that’s set to launch within the next few weeks.

Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition is to get its 1.8.2 update soon, and on top of the already-revealed Creative Mode and Flat Worlds, perhaps the biggest addition to its roster is a new hunger gauge.

A full stomach will allow you to regenerate your health, while an empty one will gradually sap your stamina. Let it reach zero and you’ll begin to fade away, which, of course, isn’t exactly conducive to success.

It’s a fairly big addition to the console version of Minecraft which could well shape the way the game plays out. Also added in 1.8.2 will be abandoned mine areas and a new enemy type, the Endermen, judging by some screenshots lobbed on the Mojang website.

There’s no official release date for the 1.8.2 update yet, although Mojang have said it’s “weeks” away.

Creative Mode takes away Minecraft’s survival element and turns the game into a pure block-building, craft-centric experience, while Flat Worlds provides players with a completely blank canvas.

The Xbox 360 version of the legendary PC indie game impressed our Greg Giddens – he enthused about the game in his Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition review.
