Minecraft 1.3 Update finally adds Adventure Mode

Simon Williams August 1, 2012 - 2:24 pm

News: First revealed last year, Adventure Mode finally hits Minecraft with the 1.3 update today, as well as a host of other additions and tweaks, including a new demo mode for the three PC gamers who haven’t brought it yet.

It’s been a long time comin’ but Minecraft‘s Adventure Mode is finally in the wild – or will be when you update your PC version next.

It’s part of a rather hefty 1.3 update (and am I the only one completely confused by Minecraft’s patch naming system – I remember discussing the 1.8 update this time last year), which also brings in a new demo mode that allows unregistered players up to five days per world in the singleplayer game before shelling out like everyone else in creation has done, a trading system, new buildings, emerald blocks and Ender Chests and a shedload of bug fixes.

Adventure Mode though is the main feature and turns a game of Minecraft on it’s head: you can’t place or destroy blocks in the game world yourself, instead surrendering to the enjoyment of other people’s creations, and it ties in with the Experience and achievements system to create something more akin to an RPG experience, albeit in a slightly more blocky way.

As ever, Reddit has the full skinny on all the changes included in this latest patch.

Meanwhile, you can keep up on all the latest Minecraft news – of which there is frankly shitloads – here on BeefJack.
