After repeatedly denying approval for the Stranger’s Wrath on XBLA, CEO of Just Add Water has said “Yet again, they have cock blocked us”.
Although arriving on PC and PS3 last year, the HD remake of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is still being denied XBLA approval. CEO of Just Add Water, the studio responsible for the remake, Stewart Gilray, has been commenting on the process as it’s continued.
The first rejection was on the grounds that the game exceeds 2GB, the maximum size of an XBLA title. According to the studio, this problem has since been resolved. Another reason was that the game needs to have at least a Metacritic score of 80, the PSN release currently has a score of 83 and the original Xbox title has a score of 88. The current problem, and one that isn’t going to change any time soon, is that the original release didn’t sell over a million copies.
Though this doesn’t mean we won’t see Stranger’s Wrath HD come to 360, it’s looking less and less likely that it will be a first party title. It’s a shame because it suggests Microsoft have disowned one of the highest rated games of the Xbox simply because it didn’t sell over a million copies.
When we get more news on future developments you’ll be able to read it here, until then why not read Danny’s review.

This tendency of Microsoft trying to control every aspect of games, including demanding exclusivity, may hurt them at long run. More and more developers have stated their dissatisfaction with Microsoft and this can hurt them in the long term.

For the record, the PC hasn’t yet received the HD content update. We still have the bog-standard Xbox version.
