Media Molecule explain why they’re moving on from LittleBigPlanet

Media Molecule have been explaining why they’re moving on from the LittleBigPlanet franchise for their next full release.
“If you think of LittleBigPlanet as having a child, you kinda get to the stage where they want to leave home. It’s kinda like that,” said Mark Healey this morning at the Develop Conference.
Basically, it’s the right time to move on, for a few reasons.
Everyone “understands the language” of LittleBigPlanet, said Kareem Ettouney. People know how it works, and are familiar with it. That means there’s a chance it could become stale.
The company is now in a position where it can continue to support LBP without making it their primary focus. “That’s really difficult for us,” admitted Alex Evans, “but we’re doing it to keep it fresh.”
But the team was keen to stress that they will not be stopping supporting the series – which currently has 4.7 million user-made levels.
